Through Birchtech Corp., ME2C Environmental and WE2C Environmental will produce sustainable environmental technologies to clean air and water that are more sustainable, effective, and affordable than solutions currently available. Birchtech’s shareholders saw a successful graduation on Canada’s Venture Board for small caps and developing issuers onto the main Toronto Stock Exchange. The broader listing provides access to new investors across Canada, Europe, and Asia among both retail and institutional investor markets.
A defining achievement in 2024 was the successful protection of the Company’s patents in their core mercury emissions technology. Birchtech received a unanimous jury award of $57 Million in its 2019 patent infringement lawsuit that culminated in a jury trial in early March 2024. This jury award was successful in bringing awareness to the industry of the Company’s patent rights. ME2C Environmental seeks a positive business relationship with utilities & has obtained new licensees of their technology this year. The current final judgement ruling from the U.S. District Court of Delaware is expected to be issued in the near term & is expected to further reinforce the value and significance of these highly innovative, important technologies. In 2024, three additional lawsuits were filed against a collective total of 14 defendants, including multiple power utilities. Progress in this 2024 lawsuit continues into 2025 as the Company expects to reach additional license and/or supply agreements with some of the defendants.
View Press Release →To date, Birchtech has repaid all remaining debt, $13.1 Million, to its primary financial partner, Alterna Capital. The company remains debt-free with no immediate need for capital. The Company’s other higher G&A expenses, including legal fees, will be reduced in 2025 and moving forward. Birchtech’s core business revenues are expected to remain stable over the next few years while growth ramp’s during 2025 in WE2C’s new technologies for the sizable water treatment market.
This year saw the successful launch of WE₂C Environmental, Birchtech’s new division focused on potable water purification technologies, including two new on state-of-the-art laboratory “design centers”. This strategic expansion targets the critical need for effective and affordable PFAS removal, in alignment with forthcoming EPA regulations, signalling our proactive approach in addressing global environmental challenges. 2025 will see the introduction of new reactivation technologies and products targeted to the potable water treatment sector.
