Charlie Cooper brings 21 years of water treatment experience to Birchtech, with expertise that spans industrial mine water discharge to municipal drinking water. As Business Development Manager, Charlie works with municipalities, public service districts, and utility operators to understand their challenges and connect them with practical, lasting solutions.
Previously, Charlie spent five years with the West Virginia Rural Water Association, overseeing its Emerging Contaminants Program and helping water systems across the state prepare for new testing, treatment, and regulatory demands. Earlier, Charlie served as a Water Plant Operator for the City of Lewisburg, West Virginia, gaining firsthand experience running a public drinking water system and addressing significant aging infrastructure challenges. Charlie also led the Environmental Department at Alpha Natural Resources, one of the nation’s largest coal producers, managing water treatment and compliance across 131 mining permits.
